Another Bed appeals to us because neither timber nor upholstery is treated as secondary. Instead, the design is really about the meeting of the two — the warmth and solidity of oak set against the softness and tactility of fabric.
We particularly like the reversible headboard. Turning it to reveal either timber or upholstery is an exceptionally simple idea, yet it can materially change the character of the bed and the wider room.
There is also something reassuring about its proportions. The low, gently rounded frame and substantial oak legs give Another Bed a relaxed presence rather than the formality sometimes associated with upholstered beds. It feels generous, comfortable and beautifully made — furniture designed around the experience of living with it rather than simply looking at it.

Another Bed grew from the long-standing relationship between Another Country and Devon-based mattress and bed maker Naturalmat. Another Country developed the design around the idea of bringing its signature timber furniture together with the softness of natural upholstery.
The result is a gently rounded, low-set bed in which oak and fabric meet at a carefully detailed piped seam. Chunky solid oak legs support the upholstered frame, while the optional headboard is finished differently on each side.
With the headboard fitted, either the oak face or upholstered face can be presented into the room, providing two subtly different expressions from the same piece of furniture. Alternatively, Another Bed can be ordered entirely without the headboard.
Available in UK Double, King and Super King sizes, with upholstery choices from Romo.

Design: Another Country
Made by: Naturalmat
Made in: Devon, UKAnother Bed was developed by Another Country in collaboration with Naturalmat, reflecting a relationship between two British businesses with a shared interest in natural materials, longevity and thoughtful manufacture.
The design deliberately brings together hard and soft materials. Oak-veneered timber and substantial solid oak legs provide structure and visual weight, while the upholstered frame introduces softness and comfort. A piped seam precisely defines the point at which the two meet.
The reversible headboard extends that idea further. Rather than permanently determining whether the bed reads principally as timber or upholstery, one face is oak and the other fabric, allowing its orientation to be changed.
Crafted in Devon by Naturalmat, Another Bed combines Another Country's furniture design language with the specialist knowledge of a British maker whose work centres on beds, mattresses and natural upholstery.
