Material & Finish:

  • Desk THREE has an unusually useful proportion. Its 1400mm width provides a genuinely generous place to work, yet its relatively shallow depth allows it to sit comfortably within rooms that were never intended to become offices.

    We particularly like the trestle-style base. It gives an otherwise exceptionally simple desk a strong identity, while the centrally positioned drawer maintains the symmetry of the piece and provides just enough storage for the things that inevitably accumulate while working.

    There is also a versatility to Desk THREE that appeals to us. Remove the computer and it doesn't immediately read as office furniture — it can work equally well as a writing desk, dressing table or occasional table.

    The optional grey lacquer is particularly successful, introducing colour precisely where it strengthens the construction and silhouette without overwhelming the natural timber.

    Its broad 1400mm top has gently rounded edges and a centrally positioned drawer, supported by the trestle-style base that provides the defining visual language of the wider collection.

    Despite its generous width, the desktop itself is only 500mm deep, with an overall footprint of 560mm once the base is taken into account. This makes Desk THREE particularly useful where proper working space is required without the visual and physical depth of a larger executive desk.

    Available in solid oak or white-oiled solid beech, each timber can also be combined with a contrasting Chamberlayne Grey lacquered edge and base.

    Gently rounded edges soften the 1400mm-wide work surface, while a single drawer is positioned centrally beneath the top. The symmetry keeps the desk visually calm and allows it to work as more than conventional office furniture.

    The contrasting lacquer option emphasises the construction particularly well. Rather than applying colour across the entire piece, Chamberlayne Grey is concentrated around the edge and supporting base, leaving the natural oak or pale beech to remain visually dominant.

    Made in Portugal from certified solid timber, Desk THREE received a Design Guild Mark in 2014 in recognition of the quality of its design, materials, manufacture and function.
