Fram Shelving - Another Country

What immediately appeals to us about Fram is the balance between storage capacity and visual lightness. Shelving can so easily become heavy architecture within a room; Fram provides substantial space for books and objects while retaining a remarkably open quality.

We particularly like the intelligence of the system. The softly rounded vertical profiles give it character, while optional panels can introduce enclosure exactly where it is useful without turning the shelving into conventional cabinetry.

Most importantly, Fram can evolve. A single unit works beautifully in its own right, but the modular construction allows the shelving to grow into a larger arrangement as a room, collection or way of living changes. That combination of adaptability, thoughtful construction and quiet presence is exactly what we look for at fōrm&blōm.

Designed by Mathias Hahn for Another Country, Fram is conceived as a modular shelving family rather than simply a fixed bookcase.

A semi-circular vertical profile combines with U-shaped shelves to create a strong but visually light structure. A groove integrated into the frame allows optional panels to be introduced at the back or sides. These can partially enclose individual shelves, provide support for books or help organise displayed objects while deliberately leaving gaps that preserve the openness of the system. 

Low, Medium and Tall units share the same width and depth, allowing different heights to sit naturally alongside one another. Fram can also be developed into larger modular configurations using additional vertical components and shelf units.

Oak / Natural
Solid certified oak with oak-veneered plywood, finished with natural oil and wax to retain the warmth and character of the timber.

Ash / Black
Solid ash with ash-veneered plywood, finished in black lacquer for a stronger, more graphic expression.

Ash / Green
Solid ash with ash-veneered plywood, finished in green lacquer, introducing colour while retaining the clarity of the shelving system.

Timber is a natural material and variations in grain, colour and character should be expected and celebrated as part of each piece.

Fram Shelving was designed by German-born, London-based designer Mathias Hahn for Another Country as a flexible storage system suitable for both domestic and workplace environments.

Its construction combines solid timber framing with veneered plywood shelving. The semi-circular vertical profiles and folded U-shaped shelf forms create structural strength while keeping the overall appearance deliberately light.

Integrated grooves within the frame allow optional panels to be introduced without fundamentally changing the structure, while the modular construction enables individual units to form part of larger shelving arrangements. 

Made in Portugal using certified timber, Fram combines precision manufacturing with the tactile qualities and repairability associated with timber furniture.
