The name Wick comes from an Old English word for an abode, dwelling or village — an appropriate reference for a bed conceived as a personal retreat. Upholstered in natural materials and available in a considered selection of fabrics, it brings softness and texture to the bedroom while retaining the material honesty characteristic of Another Country. 

Available in four UK sizes from Single to Super King, Wick can also be paired with a handmade mattress from Another Country’s Devon-based partners Naturalmat.

  • Wick brings something deliberately softer to the Another Country collection. Where many of the maker's beds allow timber and construction to define their character, Wick uses upholstery to create a greater sense of comfort, enclosure and retreat.

    We particularly like the contrast between the generous upholstered form and the beautifully resolved solid oak legs. That small amount of exposed timber is enough to give the bed definition and connect it naturally with other pieces of wooden furniture within a room.

    The opportunity to choose from natural, tactile fabrics makes Wick particularly interesting to us. Rather than simply selecting a bed frame, it allows the material character of the bedroom to be considered as a whole — calm and understated in a plain linen, or much more individual when expressed through texture and pattern.

    Wick is available in four standard UK mattress sizes — Single, Double, King and Super King — and can be specified in fabrics from Romo, Yarn Collective and Mourne Textiles. Another Country can also supply the bed with a mattress from Naturalmat, its long-standing Devon-based mattress partner.

  • Upholstered frame and headboard
    Available in a considered selection of natural upholstery fabrics, including Romo Linara, Yarn Collective Molly and Mourne Textiles Pebble. 

    Legs
    Solid oak finished with oil, allowing the warmth and natural grain of the timber to remain visible. Another Country's current care specification identifies OSMO Polyx-Oil 3062 for the oak components. 

    The precise appearance, texture and composition will vary according to the selected upholstery.

    We strongly recommend requesting fabric samples before ordering where colour and texture are important. Contact us and we can help with fabric selection.

    Wick was conceived as Another Country's first fully upholstered bed, bringing the maker's characteristic interest in natural materials and enduring construction into a deliberately softer piece of bedroom furniture. 

    Its design is based around the relationship between two materials: a generously upholstered frame and headboard are grounded by distinctive solid oak legs. The timber remains deliberately visible rather than being concealed within the upholstery, giving the bed a subtle connection to Another Country's wider solid wood furniture collection.

    Natural upholstery materials and solid timber are chosen not only for their tactile qualities but for the way they age through use. The result is a bed intended to feel comfortable and established rather than pristine and untouchable.

    Wick is made in the UK and can be paired with a handmade organic mattress from Devon-based Naturalmat.
