Ori has exactly the balance of order and character we look for at fōrm&blōm. Its repeating lines create a strong graphic structure, but subtle shifts in colour and the texture of natural wool soften the geometry and give the surface depth.

We particularly like the architectural quality of the design. References to lattice structures, basketry and traditional joinery are reduced to something remarkably calm and contemporary – allowing Ori to introduce pattern without becoming visually dominant.

Like all Kasthall rugs in our collection, Ori is chosen not simply as a decorative surface but as a considered part of the room.

Ori is a flatwoven rug designed by Kasthall Design Studio and produced at Kasthall's mill in Kinna, Sweden.

Natural wool gives the graphic weave warmth and tactile depth, while the linen warp provides the underlying structure. The result combines clarity and precision with the subtle variation inherent in natural materials.

Ori is available in a range of standard sizes as well as being made to measure for individual rooms and projects.

Standard sizes: 140 × 200 · 160 × 240 · 195 × 300 · 240 × 350 · 300 × 400 · 335 × 450 cm.

Custom sizes: widths from 140–335 cm and lengths from 60–1,000 cm.

As each rug is made using natural materials and craft-based manufacturing processes, finished dimensions may vary by up to ±5%. If a particular maximum or minimum finished dimension is critical to your space, please let us know when ordering.

Ori is available in four earthy colourways:

Each combines several subtly shifting tones within the weave, allowing the repeating pattern to emerge through colour and texture rather than hard contrast.

For woven rugs wider than 200 cm or larger than 6 m², Kasthall recommends adding backing. This treatment is applied to the underside of the rug to improve stability and help extend its life.

A separate rug underlay can also help keep the rug securely in position, protect the floor beneath and reduce movement and wear.

Designed by Kasthall Design Studio, Ori takes its name from the Japanese word for “weave”. Its design explores the quiet order found in repetition, drawing inspiration from lattice structures, basketry and traditional joinery from different cultures.

Parallel lines and subtle changes in colour are translated through the weave to create a surface in which repetition itself becomes the pattern. The precision of the geometry is balanced by the depth and natural variation of wool, giving Ori its distinctive sense of rhythm and restraint.

Each rug is woven to order at Kasthall's mill in Kinna, Sweden, where the company has been producing rugs since 1889.

Regular vacuuming is the best way to remove everyday dirt and help preserve the appearance and structure of your rug. Spills and stains should be dealt with promptly and appropriate professional cleaning used when deeper cleaning is required.

As Ori is made from natural fibres, small variations in colour, texture and dimensions are part of the character of the material and may occur between yarn batches.

Kasthall provides a 10-year residential warranty for its woven and tufted rugs.
