Legards

Bespoke Furniture & Timber-Led Design (UK)

Patrick Legards is a British furniture designer-maker whose work sits at the intersection of thoughtful design, refined joinery and intimate knowledge of timber. Trained in fine furniture at the Building Crafts College in London, Patrick honed his skills in a variety of workshops before setting up Legards, a furniture and cabinetry practice near Doncaster — close to where his great-grandfather opened a fine leather goods shop in the 19th century.

Patrick’s approach is deeply rooted in material integrity and a story-first understanding of wood. Rather than relying on commercial stock, he often sources and mills his own timber from local tree surgeons, rescuing felled wood from nearby landscapes and giving it new life in furniture that celebrates its origins.  His work ranges from contemporary Windsor chairs and bespoke benches to tables and turned forms, each piece shaped with a balance of precision and respect for the material’s natural character.

Designs by Legards combine clean, refined lines with expressive detailing — whether occupying space as functional seating or as sculptural furniture. Patrick’s passion for large-scale turning, hand carving and textural contrast continues to evolve through commissions and collections, reflecting a practice that values both craft discipline and personal expression.
