Designer-maker Ellen Svenningsen creates furniture and fine objects under the name Svenningsen, working from her workshop in St Leonards-on-Sea. Raised in Copenhagen, Ellen brings a Scandinavian sensitivity to material, proportion and restraint, combined with a deeply hands-on making practice.

She mills her own timber and works closely with English hardwoods, British leather and Danish paper cord, maintaining full control over quality and finish. Each piece is made slowly, with careful attention to structure, joinery and surface.

Svenningsen’s work is quietly expressive — objects defined by clarity, tactility and an enduring sense of balance.
