Hardy Side Table is exactly the sort of small piece of furniture we find ourselves returning to: useful enough to earn its place almost anywhere, but sufficiently considered that it never feels merely functional.
We particularly like the balance between open and concealed storage. The lower shelf is generous enough for the books that inevitably accumulate beside a bed or sofa, while the optional drawer gives smaller everyday objects somewhere to disappear.
Most importantly, it retains the character of David Irwin's wider Hardy family without feeling like a scaled-down version of something larger. The rounded top, turned legs and beautifully resolved joints give this modest piece a distinct presence of its own.

Designed by David Irwin, Hardy Side Table belongs to the wider Hardy Collection, which developed from the original Hardy Chair and its exploration of traditional nineteenth-century British furniture.
The table translates that language into a compact and particularly useful form. A lower shelf provides open storage while the optional drawer allows smaller possessions to be kept neatly out of sight.
At 490mm wide × 410mm deep, it is compact enough to work beside a bed while its 600mm height also makes it an excellent companion to a sofa or armchair.

Oak / Natural
Solid certified oak finished with natural oil and wax. The finish enhances the grain and natural warmth of the timber while providing protection against everyday use.
Ash / Natural

Ash / Black
Solid ash with a black lacquered finish. The oil-and-wax treatment also allows the timber to be maintained and, where necessary, locally repaired and refinished over time.
Timber is a natural material and variations in grain, colour and character should be expected and celebrated as part of each piece.

Designer: David Irwin
Maker: Another Country
Collection: Hardy Collection
Made in: PortugalHardy Side Table extends the design language established by David Irwin for the wider Hardy family into a compact piece of occasional furniture.
The collection has its origins in Irwin's study of nineteenth-century furniture, particularly the Captain's chair and low-backed Windsor-style Smokers bow that informed the original Hardy Chair. Those historical references were distilled into a contemporary language of turned timber, softly rounded forms and carefully expressed joints.
Here those principles are expressed through a solid oak top, slender turned legs and useful lower shelf, with an optional drawer incorporated without disrupting the clarity of the table.
Made in Portugal from certified solid oak and finished with natural oil and wax, Hardy Side Table is conceived as an everyday piece whose material will develop naturally through use.
