Chest of Drawers TWO demonstrates beautifully that practical storage furniture needn't be anonymous. Its overall form is remarkably restrained, but the closer you get, the more there is to appreciate.
We particularly like the hierarchy of the three drawers. The oversized lower drawer recognises that bedroom storage needs to accommodate more than folded clothes, providing genuinely useful space for blankets and bedding, while the lockable upper drawer offers somewhere more private for smaller possessions.
Then there are the details: exposed dovetail joints, pale ash and the tiny moment of brushed brass around the lock and key. None is there simply for decoration; together they give a very practical piece of furniture warmth, character and permanence.

Chest of Drawers TWO is made from solid ash, finished with white oil and wax to retain the naturally pale character of the timber while allowing its grain and texture to remain visible.
Brushed Brass
Brushed brass is used sparingly as a detail, most notably at the lockable upper drawer, introducing a warm metallic contrast to the pale ash.
Traditional dovetail joints form an important part of the construction and remain a visible expression of the cabinet-making involved in the piece.
Timber is a natural material and variations in grain, colour and character should be expected and celebrated as part of each piece.
For guidance on looking after solid timber and natural finishes, see our Care, Assembly & Maintenance guide.

Design: Another Country
Collection: Series TWO / Sleep Series
Made in: PortugalChest of Drawers TWO was originally developed as part of Another Country's bedroom collection for Heal's and reflects the functional forms, clean lines and enduring craftsmanship associated with Shaker furniture.
The simplicity of the overall form allows its construction and materials to provide the character. Solid ash is finished with white oil and wax, preserving the pale appearance and tactile quality of the timber, while traditional dovetail joints make the craft of the drawers quietly visible.
The three drawers have deliberately different proportions rather than simply dividing the cabinet equally. A particularly deep lower drawer provides storage for bulky bedroom textiles, while the lockable upper drawer incorporates a restrained brushed-brass escutcheon and key.
An Arts and Crafts-inspired upright at the top introduces another subtle historical reference. Like the wider Series TWO, these influences are distilled rather than reproduced, resulting in furniture that feels contemporary while remaining rooted in established furniture-making traditions.
Made in Portugal, Chest of Drawers TWO is designed as substantial everyday furniture whose solid timber construction and repairable oil-and-wax finish allow it to age naturally through use.
