Mourne Textiles

Handwoven Textiles with rich heritage (Northern Ireland)

Mourne Textiles is a renowned weaving studio in Northern Ireland, led by Norwegian textile designer Gerd Hay-Edie’s grandson Mario Sierra, continuing a legacy of textile craft that balances heritage with contemporary design. The studio is celebrated for its handwoven blankets and fabrics, produced on traditional looms using natural fibres.

Strong colour palettes, rich texture and thoughtful pattern are central to the work, much of which draws subtle influence from landscape and architectural form. Despite its deep roots in tradition, the studio’s output feels modern, relevant and enduring.

Mourne Textiles represents weaving as a living practice — one that evolves while remaining grounded in skill, patience and material understanding.
